The Many Faces of Volunteering!
What would we do without our volunteers? Thankfully, we do not need to answer that question when it involves the Community Café. Since 2011, many faces have graced our doors in providing an inclusive environment for the patrons who attend this community event. Volunteer Appreciation Week (April 12-18) is a time set aside to celebrate the tremendous contribution made by many people who give their time freely to make their communities a better place to live.
During the Community Café this month, we were honoured to express our gratitude to the dedicated volunteers who commit themselves monthly time and time again. As patrons enjoyed their healthy meal and meeting with friends, volunteers were applauded for their efforts and shown appreciation as each were presented with certificates. As a treat, cake was also served, and being true volunteers, it was shared with the Community Café family.
This year’s theme for Volunteer Appreciation Week is “the many faces of volunteering.” This theme highlights the diversity of the people who volunteer in our communities and the many ways that they are involved. How fitting that through social inclusion at the Community Café, diversity is celebrated within all our volunteers.
To our volunteers, for every helping hand at the many events that are offered in the area, we thank you and appreciate you!
