“Community Circle” Workshop
On November 24th, 2010 The Bay St. George Status of Women Council, in conjunction with the College of the North Atlantic, hosted a workshop entitled “Community Circle: Engaging Men in Issues of Gender and Social Justice.” This workshop explored community concerns and men’s role in community development. Community leaders from the Bay St. George area were invited to have a larger discussion about what men’s role is in gender issues and questions of social justice and change. This workshop was held in conjunction with both the White and Purple Ribbon Campaigns which promote the end of violence against women. The goal of the workshop was to get community leaders talking about what issues of import to the community they are interested in and then to evaluate what that means for community involvement, participation and development by men are available. The Community Circle Workshop was generously funded by the Bay St. George Coalition to End Violence.
