Youth Engagement Coordinator
(Temporary Maternity Leave Position)
Bay St. George South

The Community Youth Network has a temporary position available for a Youth Engagement Coordinator for the Bay St. George South Region.

The successful candidate will work with the CYN Team to plan and coordinate activities for youth throughout the region including Stephenville Crossing, St. George’s and communities throughout Bay St. George South. The coordinator will work in collaboration with schools and community partners to engage youth in leadership and skills development activities; provide ongoing training and civic engagement opportunities for youth; mobilize youth to plan and implement various school/community activities and initiatives; chaperone youth attending regional, provincial and national leadership development events; and assist youth in the transition from school to work.

The Youth Engagement Coordinator must have the ability to work independently, to actively engage youth and volunteers, and employ relevant problem-solving strategies in a variety of settings. The coordinator will develop local partnerships with schools, service groups, community organizations and youth serving agencies, attend committee meetings as required, and partner to organize career development activities and workshops.

The Youth Engagement Coordinator must have a minimum of a bachelor’s level degree or diploma in education, social sciences or related field and have at least three years related work experience.

Knowledge of computer applications and Internet is essential. A Certificate of Conduct and First Aid Certificate is required for this position.

Period of Employment: February 18th to June 29th, 2019 (With the possibility of continued employment from September 2019 to February 2020.)

Salary: $15.50 per hour for 30 hours per week.
