Families Celebrate Completion of the FAST Program
On December 13th, the Community Education Network concluded the latest Families and Schools Together (FAST) program at Stephenville Primary. The Community Addictions Prevention and Mental Health Promotion Fund, an initiative of Western Health, provided funding for this fall’s program.
In partnership with the school and Mental Health and Addictions, FAST has run for four consecutive years at the Primary with the maximum of twelve families participating in each of the 8-week programs.
Families participate in fun structured activities including a meal, family activities, parent time, kid’s time, and much more. A trained team comprised of school partners, community partners and a parent partner facilitate the program and work with the families. A team of volunteers is on hand to assist with the operation of the program and are a critical component of facilitating FAST.
The twelve families who have completed the program will join the growing FASTWORKS network, which is comprised of families who have completed one of the previous FAST programs. This provides them the opportunity to meet on a monthly basis and plan activities and to continue the support network that started during the 8-week program. Funding support for FASTWORKS has been provided by the Bay St. George Coalition to End Violence.
A big thank you to all our partners, funders and volunteers for making the Stephenville Primary Families and Schools Together program a success!
