Communities In Schools (CIS) and MMYES Host Skills Day in Port aux Basques
On May 26th, Communities In Schools (CIS) in partnership with the Career Planning Sub-Committee of the Marine and Mountain Youth Employment Strategy hosted a Skills Day for all Grade 11 students attending Belanger Memorial, Grandy’s River Collegiate and St. James Regional High. The day took place at St. Christopher’s Hotel in Port Aux Basques. Students were invited to participate in a variety of informative sessions throughout the day. The sessions included; Dorm Style Cooking facilitated by Debbie MacArthur and Trina Sheaves, Employability Skills facilitated by Maxine Edwards, Basic Auto Skills facilitated by Chantelle MacIsaac, Yoga facilitated by Dianne Graham, Personal Safety facilitated by Jeremy Lane and Team Building facilitated by our guest speaker Barry Green. Barry Green also served as our motivational speaker for the day. It was a wonderful day and we would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who helped make it a success.
