CYN Members Participate in Atlantic Co-operative Youth Seminar
Eight CYN Youth Group Members from the Bay St George and Burgeo areas participated in the Atlantic Cooperative Youth Leadership (ACYL) Seminar on October 13th to 15th. ACYL is a creative and interactive leadership camp which promotes co-operative youth development. Over the three action-packed days, members were engaged in many collaborative activities that helped them reflect and consider their relationships to others in positive and meaningful ways. For example, Alysha Flynn from Lourdes said “ACYL was fun. I think it was too short because I was really quiet and I only got to actually talk to people the day before we left. I would love to go back again and meet some of the same people because they were great. There are a lot of great memories in pictures and I’d love to see everyone again sometime :)”
From a chaperone’s view point, Vanessa Lee, Regional Coordinator BSG South – CYN/CIS, reports “ACYL was a great learning experience. It provided a diverse group of NL youth with an opportunity to come together and share what leadership experiences they’ve had; this environment helped instill in youth the notion they can make a difference. As I said to the participants following the conference ‘knowing that you are our future leaders, I believe we are in good hands.’”
