BOOKWORMS SUMMER FUN 2012

The Summer Bookworms Activity Camps are off and running again this year! The program started on June 25 and runs until August 3 and services children in Grades Kindergarten-3 (morning sessions) and Grades 4-6 (afternoon sessions.) Post- secondary students were hired to coordinate and facilitate the theme camps such as Animal Kingdom, Movin’ and Groovin’, Happy Camper, and, of course, the always popular Fantastic Fridays. The camps are literacy- based, with a focus on reading and writing in an interactive, fun way. Volunteers from the community are also brought in to share their skills and talents with the children. By all accounts, the program is and has been very successful thus far this year and it is evident by the smiles on the children’s faces when one goes to visit the sites.
