Community Cafés Celebrate One Year Anniversary!
Whether you are a person who is currently experiencing difficult life circumstances or a person upon who favour is smiling, you are welcome to come join us at the Community Café! It is the though the efforts of many that the cafés are made to be a warm and welcoming environment, and you can sit in a relaxed atmosphere for a great lunch and conversation while meeting some new people and re-acquainting with old friends.
The Housing Stability Initiative (HSI) Special Projects committee is pleased to say a big thank you to October’s café sponsors. Students and Instructors from the College of the North Atlantic prepared a wonderful delicious lunch with a variety of soups, sandwiches and desserts! They also assisted volunteers to serve the over 90 patrons who came for lunch!
Also, our continued gratitude to Stephenville Lion’s Club for space and assistance, Coleman’s Food Centre for their on-going monthly support and advice, Western Regional Wellness Coalition for funding for healthy snacks, the Stephenville Skills Link coordinator and participants, and all the wonderful volunteers and staff who continue to give their time and energy to make the cafés a success!
Celebrating one year of Community Cafés in conjunction with commemorating World Homeless Day (October 10th), individuals were asked to bring along a non-perishable food item for Stephenville Emergency Food Services. A large number of food items were brought and delivered to the food bank, a service that is an essential part of supporting those in our society who may at times be struggling with making ends meet. Together, we build stronger communities!

We are all of us from birth to death guests at a table which we did not spread. The sun, the earth, love, friends, our very breath are parts of this banquet…
