Community Café a Success
Community Cafés have been ongoing for almost a year and a half in Stephenville and have been blessed with a wonderful amount of community support. As an event open to the entire community, it has earned a reputation as being a warm and welcoming environment for people to get together and have some social time. Many people have become regulars and it’s great to see their smiling faces!
Everyone is welcome to come for a bowl of soup and a sandwich, and to have a chat. At the Lion’s Club on the second Thursday of each month, there is a donation box set up by the door, and individuals can make a donation for lunch if they so choose, but it is not necessary. Zion Pentecostal have their café on the fourth Thursday of the month, and people are welcomed to attend both monthly events!
The backbone of the Community Cafés is its volunteers, along with community agencies, organizations, faith groups and businesses that commit regularly to ensuring all the preparation work is done. Reggie Marsden, who is a student at CNA is pictured here helping to assist with meal preparation. He and several other CNA students have become regular contributors to the success of this wonderful activity.
