June’s Community Cafe
The June Community Café was a flurry of activity with over one hundred patrons visiting for lunch, for good conversation and to listen to some wonderful local entertainment.
Co-sponsors of the café were the Community Advisory Committee and the staff of Service Canada Stephenville. Along with financial donations, representatives of both groups came to give a helping hand and welcoming guests. Both groups were pleased to sponsor and to help with such a successful event!
Another highlight of the day was the presentation of a generous donation by the Anglican Church Outreach Committee to both the Community Café and the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation. Ruth Lee, a representative of the Outreach Committee was on hand to present cheques to Sharon Park, Executive Director of the Community Education Network; and Erle Barrett, Lion’s Club, for the Bay St. George Sick Children’s Foundation.
Regular monthly contributors to the Cafe include Coleman’s Food Centre, the Western Regional Wellness Coalition, the Community Addictions Prevention and Mental Health Promotion Fund; CEN and Associates staff, Stephenville Lion’s, and local volunteers. The amount of local support for the café is overwhelming, and highlights the true spirit of giving among residents, businesses and organizations within the Bay St. George area.
