Community Café: What’s your reason?

Community Café has come to mean many things for many people.  For some it is an opportunity to meet with old friends and catch up on news or a time to challenge someone with a friendly game of crib. For others it is a chance to be served a hot bowl of homemade soup and a freshly made sandwich, but to Wilf and Marilyn Hiller, it is a chance to give back to a community they love.

This husband and wife duo are two of the many volunteers that come out monthly to enjoy the friendly atmosphere provided by the Housing Stability Initiative and the Lion’s Club.  With gleeful conversations humming in the background, Lloyd Swyers and Francie Downey entertain the patrons with their lively musical contribution.  In the kitchen, Lion’s Club and HSI volunteers dish out and clean up.

Regardless of your reason for coming out, we’re glad you make us a part of your day during our Community Café on the second Thursday of the month.

Of course, the café would not be a success were it not for all who come to participate in this community event. So a special thank you to September’s sponsor the Ministerial Association and all volunteers who give of their time.
