CEN reflects on past year!
As the fiscal year ends for the Community Education Network (CEN), the annual general meeting, held on November 16, 2013 was a good time to slow down and reflect on the challenges and accomplishments the past year brought.
While Sharon Park, Executive Director of CEN, claimed, “It’s been a tough year,” she also affirmed that “tough times can offer insight into how an organization can become stronger!” This year’s theme “The Power of Change,” encompassed all that the organization has been through with the loss of valued staff and programs, in addition to the strength and optimism of embracing the change and moving forward.
With change comes new life, new challenges and new successes. Under the direction of newly elected chair, Johnny MacPherson, the Board of Directors will guide CEN to continue strong and emerge as a “healthier and sustainable organization.” Congratulations to all elected CEN Board of Directors.
During the day, 62 participants received an abundance of information regarding CEN & Associate’s programming and future plans. Participants were stimulated to embrace challenge and change. They were moved by stories of personal strength and gain. They reminisced of days gone past, and laughed until it hurt. Many were empowered to understand the importance of play and an active lifestyle, while others grasped the value of team work, especially during a zombie apocalypse. Each left with a new appreciation for lifelong learning and knowledge of how CEN continues to shape and touch the lives of many in our communities.
While change can bring sadness and apprehension, so does it bring motivation and inspiration. To the CEN family, past and present, “Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to Great Places! You’re off and away!”(Dr. Seuss, Oh, the Places You’ll Go!)
