Community Café: Winter cold can’t stop us!
With Old Man Winter and Jack Frost in cahoots with each other, January’s Community Café had to be rescheduled, but no fret; we fight a good fight, and only moved it to the next day. So how many of you are tired of shoveling the snow dumped on us so far this winter? The sad news is we have only just begun. With freezing temperatures and rotating power outages, never has there been a greater need for a hot bowl of homemade soup and friendly faces.
While the numbers were down for January’s café, many daring souls piled on the layers, donned their woolen hats and warm mitts and braved the bitter cold to enjoy the warmth, music and friendship every café offers. While sipping on hot soup and sneaking that extra sweet, many sat back and enjoyed the music talent of Lloyd Swyers while others were challenged to a “friendly” game of crib.
Special thanks to all volunteers who offered their assistance in any way and to the Community Education Network, this month’s sponsor. To all who dared to come out into the cold, thank you for your commitment and dedication. Whether you are a patron or a volunteer, without you there would be no café.
See you all next month and here’s hoping we warm up some!
