Powered Up! and Ready for Action: Career Development Program Complete Training Phase
Thanks to the guided, hands-on experience supported by Red Cross First Aid instructor, Bernice Hancock, seven newly certified first aiders feel more capable of keeping calm in an otherwise stressful situation. Natasha Lee, one of seven Power Up! 2014 participants, feels, “Now I will know how to take charge in a situation and better care for my children.”
The two day Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR course was one of more than a dozen training workshops the participants engaged in to successfully equip themselves as they prepare to enter the workforce. Having began their four week Pre-Employment Training on June 9, 2014 participants were anxious, but excited, to begin the next phase of this career development program on July 4, 2014, as they approach local employers with hopes of attaining a 930 hour, subsidized work placement.
In its seventh year, Power Up!, sponsored by Community Education Network, in partnership with the Department of Advanced Education & Skills, continues to assist adults aged 25 years and upward to build or enhance skills necessary in today’s labour market as they transition into today’s labour market.
