Power Up! Excelling at Customer Service
Continuous learning is an essential skill that Power Up! pays keen attention to. During the Work Placement phase, participants return to engage in bi-weekly workshops. In addition to interacting and socializing with community members, participants have the opportunity to gain new skills and talents. These experiences are an integral part of the learning process that will assist the individual and ultimately help them to reach their career goals.
On September 24, 2014 Jessica Greenwood, Membership & Training Coordinator for Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador (HNL), facilitated an internationally certified, interactive, seven-hour workshop focusing on effective communication skill building and quality customer service. The group interacted in activities centered around the importance of using effective nonverbal communication and emphatic skills when dealing with irate customers; the importance of leaving personal issues at home; and how best to be an advocate for your business and your community.
Individuals who obtain WorldHost certification gain the skills and confidence required to excel at customer service. Each Power Up! participant was excited to return to their respective places of employment and showcase their new skills and professional attitude.
