CEN Continues Strong! AGM 2014
With ghosts and goblins resting after an eventful evening of fun, frights, treats and tricks, there was no rest at Stephenville Middle School. Youth, parents and caregivers, staff members and community partners gathered on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 to commemorate another successful year with Community Education Network & Associates annual general meeting.
As CAC celebrates 20 years of family resource programming in Southwestern NL, keynote speaker, Bev Kirby fondly recounted her personal memories during the initial stages and her role in bringing Family Resource Centers to this area. Picture slideshows, from both CEN and CAC showcased fond memories that have been woven into the intricacies of today’s CEN & Associates.
Board member, Mark Felix, encapsulated this year’s theme, “A Solid Foundation for Success,” during his greetings from the board. He addressed the hardships CEN has endured and the uphill climb it continues. He spoke of CEN’s strength while facing adversity, how it forged forward, and has successfully set a solid foundation for success. He went on to encourage the 56 in attendance to believe in what they want; to never give up. He said, “In life there are going to be setbacks, disappointments, but never give up, always look ahead, re-plan, and restructure, that’s the plan for CEN.” Concluding he left them with this thought, “E=R: The EFFORT you put into life will give you the RESULT you want.”
Availing of heartfelt speakers’ messages, engaging in interactive activities, and information sessions, participants walked away rejuvenated by CEN’s enthusiasm for lifelong learning and its creative partnerships and its commitment to enhance our communities by providing strong leadership and supportive programs and resources.
The day ended with an inspiring musical video showcasing teamwork, leadership and friendship, a true testament to CEN’s strength and will…”YES I CAN!” (Special Hockey International’s theme song by Canadian singer/songwriter, Jason Barry)
