CBC Pancake Breakfast for Homelessness-What part will you play?
How often have you thought or said out loud how you wished to have more money? To be able to afford to do, or buy…During the winter when the wind blows colder and snow falls accumulate do you find yourself pinching pennies to afford this month’s heat bill? How about planning a summer vacation? Stop! Take a look around you…are you seated at your work desk? Reading this from your tablet or iPhone? Did you choose a particular coat or a pair of shoes on your way out the door today? How about your lunch, did you eat it all or throw out what you didn’t want or were too full to eat?
While we often wish for so much more, we tend to forget to be thankful for what we do have. Too many of our Canadian neighbours do not have the fortune of choosing from closets full of clothes, or ponder over what to have for dinner. On any given night, in Canada, 30, 000 people are homeless.* On February 17, 2015 join the Southwestern Housing Stability Initiative as we hold our annual CBC Pancake Breakfast for Homelessness at the Lion’s Club Den from 8:00 am-1:00 pm.
Enjoy a hearty Newfoundland pancake breakfast for just $6.00 with all proceeds going to local organizations which deal with homelessness on a daily basis. While you may not see someone in a sleeping bag on the street corner, never hesitate to believe that homelessness does not exist in every community, in fact homelessness costs the Canadian economy over $7 billion annually.* What part will you play in helping end homelessness in your community? Will you give more or less? Check out this video and see how 3 minutes could change your life.
