Community Café-It Warms the Heart and the Belly
With Old Man Winter bearing down with bone-chilling winds and freezing temperatures, it is nice to receive a warm greeting and January’s Community Café offered just that, of course, along with a nice hot bowl of homemade soup.
While numbers were down, the patrons who braved the winter cold were welcomed to thaw out and enjoy the great musical talents of our Café entertainers, Lloyd Swyers and Francie Downey. Delicious soups and freshly made sandwiches followed by a yummy dessert for those with a sweet tooth were plenty as well.
As always the Community Café thrives due to its committed volunteers who continue to come back month after month…and we are always glad to welcome newcomers into our Café family. For the past several months, the Primary Health Care nurses have been on hand at our cafés offering information regarding health care, including holding flu shot clinic. This month, we are appreciative to not only have their presence at the café, but grateful for their financial donation that sponsored this month’s café.
Remember the café is held on the second Thursday of the month at the Lions Club and the fourth Thursday at Zion Pentecostal Church. So, we can’t wait to see you again next month on Feb. 11th, this time remember to bring a friend…
