CBC Community Pancake Breakfast a Success!
While a winter storm advisory may have delayed plans for the CBC Community Pancake Breakfast originally slated for Pancake Day, Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, the breakfast was deemed a success. Held in conjunction with the Southwestern Housing Stability Initiative’s monthly Community Café on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, patrons were treated to a hot delicious meal of pancakes, bologna, toast and baked beans. Donations were accepted with all proceeds going back into the community to organizations and events that deal daily with homelessness.
165 meals were served in a two-hour span with the help of many hands. Twenty-three dedicated volunteers set up the event, served meals, cleaned dishes, greeted folks as they entered, entertained and offered ballots for several giveaways among another dozen duties.
Members of the Emergency Food Bank were on hand to accept over $500 worth of grocery and monetary donations collected during the event. A special thanks to all patrons, volunteers, the Stephenville Lions Club, the BSG Coalition to End Violence, advertising agencies and CBC for their support and dedication during this event.
We look forward to seeing you all again next year!
