Our Volunteers are our Superheros
“We all have the capacity to be a superhero. In order to become one, you just have to find your unique power or ability and exploit it for the greater good. The cape and mask are optional, but a kind heart is essential.” -Robert Clancy
For CEN & Associates, we have several superheros. They go by different names, do different jobs and can be found at different times throughout the day…but one thing that is constant is their value to CEN & Associates. Our volunteers continue to give on a daily basis. They can be found doing greater good in our pre-schools and family resource centers; using super strength to move furniture, their lightening speed when serving a hot meal to someone in need…just about anything we can ask they willingly, and eagerly, are there to help.
April 10-16, 2016 was Volunteer Appreciation Week, and while our volunteers are appreciated each and every day, it is nice to formally recognize them for their heart and priceless contribution. On Tuesday, April 12, 2016 volunteers were invited to attend a luncheon and keynote at the Kindale Library hosted by CEN & Associates. While enjoying a hot buffet from Pizza Delight, the 22 volunteers were recognized by Susan Fowlow, keynote speaker, as superheros.
Volunteers are the heroes to many organizations. They donate their time, enthusiasm, and many times do the work that no one else would like to do.”Everyone here has their own reason for volunteering.” She spoke of how volunteerism is significant, is critical, “it’s what makes communities work.” On behalf of the many, many community organizations, she offered a sincere, “Thank you! Bigger than the volunteer work you do, its a thank you for the role models you’ve become, thank you from the children that see you everyday do the things you do, who are inspired by you, who will become role models because of you.”

Each volunteer received a Certificate of Appreciation for their outstanding superpower of giving to their community.
The Community Youth Network in Stephenville, also recognized their youth as outstanding volunteers in their school and communities. During a volunteer lunch, April 15th, 21 youth shared their volunteer experiences with each other. Among some of the areas they volunteer included: SPCA, school bake sales, cleaning pull tabs for the Janeway, and local winter carnivals.
